If you’re like me, you run on ideas and excitement. There's that initial burst of energy when you think of something new. You jump right in, start building, and fantasize about where this could all go.
The probem is when no one subscribes, no one buys, or no one even uses what you've built. That energy evaporates. It's replaced by disappointment, and it sucks. The key to staying motivated isn't just passion.
It's getting consistent wins.
That’s why I loved my recent conversation with Joshua Renfro. It reminded me how important it is to filter out your ideas.
Joshua is the Director of Revenue Ops & Growth at a 40+ attorney law firm, but he thinks like a startup founder. He shared his personal framework for making sure his experiments and projects are commercially viable from the start. It’s a system designed to filter out the "fun but going nowhere" ideas and focus on the ones that will actually deliver a win.
We talked about how to stay focused, how to validate your ideas before you invest hundreds of hours, and how he treats building new things like a video game where "winning is building."
If you're trying to figure out where to put your energy for the biggest impact, I genuinely think this conversation will give you a new level of clarity.
